EXCERPTS FROM

UNITED STATES HUMAN RIGHTS COMMITTEE

EIGHTY SEVENTH SESSION

REPORT ON THE UNITED STATES' COMPLIANCE WITH THE INTERNATIONAL COVENANT ON CIVIL AND POLITICAL RIGHTS

The United Nations allows submissions to its Human Rights Committee, reports that challenge the United States government's official report. In May 2006, a coalition of 142 U.S.-based non-profits and organizations and 32 individuals submitted a shadow report that is the most comprehensive review of human rights violations in the U.S. ever compiled.

One of many signatories, SHaRC invites you to read these excerpts:

In the Shadows of the War on Terror: Persistent Police Brutality and Abuse in the United States

Domestic Criminal Justice Issues and the ICCPR

The following is the full table of contents of the shadow report. You also may wish to download the full report.
